MEET JOEY!

Joey’s journey is a testament to resilience and the power of love. Rescued by Elisabeth Watkins and brought to SOAR, Joey was fostered by Char Bigger. When he arrived, he was just a tiny five-pound puppy and was approximately eight weeks old. The day after his arrival, Joey became lethargic and was rushed to the vet, where he was diagnosed with a severe case of worms and coccidia. He was close to death, but thanks to heavy medication and lots of fluids, Joey pulled through and returned to his loving foster home. He gradually started to thrive. At approximately 12 weeks old, Joey began his training journey with Starr puppy training under Linda French. He passed with flying colors and went on to complete two basic obedience classes. His hard work and dedication earned him an AKC Fit Dog medal. Joey then advanced to a 10-week training program at Holdenville Prison, graduating with a perfect score of 10 out of 10 stars. Now, at a year and a half old, Joey is a well-rounded and social dog. He gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and absolutely loves people. While he may chase cats if given the chance, his intelligence and quick learning make him adaptable and full of potential. Joey is both house and crate trained, even using a bell at the door to signal when he needs to go outside. He’s neutered and up to date on all his shots. Joey would be an excellent candidate for an emotional support or service dog, especially for an individual or veteran in need. His loving nature, combined with his extensive training, makes him a perfect companion for someone looking for a loyal and dependable friend.
