Marshall County’s nonprofit, Hope for Marshall County in sponsorship with Mary Kay Makeup Consultant Amy Wellman Field are hosting 2023 Teen Night Out on March 7 for girls in grades 9-12. The special guests will be former Ms. Oklahoma Jessica Kindt, World’s Ms. Tourism2023andWorld’sAll Star Miss Tourism 2023 for Talent Michelle A. Douglas, and 2023 Miss Jr Teen Oklahoma TourismRepElizabeth Douglas.

Teen Night Out’s primary focus is to help equip young girls with confidence and self-esteem through inspiring testimonials from guest speakers, knowledge about self-care, teen peer pressure with dating and the warning signs of domestic violence.

With a generous donation from Mary Kay Makeup, the teens will learn how to properly apply makeup for anyoccasionaswellasproper skin care routines. The teens will also have the opportunity to learn hairstyles with glamour shots at the end of the night. Gift bags include jewelry, body scents, makeup with the chance to feel like a queen with their very own customized sash and tiara to keep.

Director Gwen Wilson said the teens come for the makeup, but they leave with so much more self-esteem.

“You can stand out, you don’t have to be out of the same cookie cutter, you can reach your dreams if you just set them and take it one step at a time,” Wilson said.

Wilson said this event is more of a self-empowering event for girls than anything. Amy Wellman Field described her involvement as giving back to the area that gave so much to her growing up.

“I remember people in this town pouring into me as a teenager and I love giving back to the community,” said Field.

Kindt is involved in many projects locally and around the state. She expressed her reasoning for wanting to be a part of Teen Night out.

“It promotes self-confidence and beauty within,” said Kindt.

Douglas described the pageant circuit she and her daughter are involved with being for all girls, everywhere.

“It’s for every girl everywhere,” Douglas said. “It doesn’t matter shape, size, height build, handicap, it doesn’t matter. Our biggest thing is to stop bullying and to teach acceptance.”

The group hopes for the event to grow each year as more teens attend and hear inspirational stories from the guestspeakers.Eachspeaker has their own story about acceptance and overcoming life’s obstacles to reach their goals. Girls in grades 9-12 are invited to attend on March 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 503 N. First Street in Madill.
