A Durant man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Marshall County. On August 19, Marshall County Deputy Micah Current conducted a traffic stop, and was informed by the juvenile passenger that she had been raped.
The victim told Current thatRobertLee,a40-year-old male from Durant, allegedly raped her by the lake. Marshall County Investigator Steve Beebe arrived on scene to find the victim getting treated by EMS. Beebe then approached Lee and put him in handcuffs. After reading the suspect his rights, and Lee stating he understood them, Beebe began asking a few questions.
Beebe asked if the suspect knew the juvenile. Lee said she was her friend, but he was unsure of her name. He stated he saw her walking near the Durant Walmart, so he offered her a ride.
He then said that they drove to Marshall County. Beebeaskedwhatthepairdid once they arrived in Marshall County. Lee allegedly stated the victim wanted to “smoke some weed.” Beebe asked if they did anything else, and Lee allegedly told him they had sex.
Beebe informed Lee that he was going to be transported to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. Once at the MCSO, Beebe reminded Lee of his Miranda Rights and asked if he wanted to continue talking about the incident.
Lee said he understood and wished to continue talking. Lee stated again that he picked up the victim and drove her to the lake. While at the lake, they talked about different things. Lee then alleged that the victim began making sexual advances toward him and “one thing led to another” and they ended up engaging in a sexual activity. Lee then said they left because the juvenile said she had to be home by 3:00 a.m.
Lee told Beebe that he knew he messed up and “was going to lose everything.” Beebe informed Lee that it was illegal to engage in sex with a minor, Lee stated that he understood. Lee was then booked into the Marshall County Jail to face charges of First-Degree Rape and Kidnapping.Anonlinesearch came up negative for Oklahoma priors.
