Deadline to file homestead

Debbie Croasdale, Marshall County Assessor wants the taxpayers to know that March 15, 2020 is the deadline to file homestead, extended homestead, business personal property and all other personal property such as farm equipment.

Since it is on a Sunday this year, the deadline will be extended to Monday, March 16, 2020.

New homesteaders need to come into the Assessor’s office and file for homestead for the first time. If you had homestead last year at the same residence, then it is not necessary to reapply.

If your gross household income is under $20,000, you need to bring proof of your last year’s income into the office to file for extended homestead by March 16 th .

If you are over 65 and your gross income is under $54,900 then you need to bring proof of income to file for a valuation limitation.

100% disabled veterans who have not previously applied for their exemption need to bring documentation into the office by March 16 also.

Business owners need to file a complete listing of all equipment and inventory by March 16 th .

All farmers and ranchers need to assess their farm equipment and apply for agricultural permits. Filing after March 16 th results in a 10% penalty until April 15 th , after that is a 20% penalty.

If you have purchased a mobile home last year, we need a copy of the title by March 16.
