Governor Kevin Stitt called a special election to fill the vacancy in December of 2022 after Joshua Cantrell was elected to represent House District 49 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Life-long Marshall County resident Adams said he has plans to keep tax dollars in Marshall County while getting to work immediately on District 2 roads that are in desperate need of drainage.

He graduated high school from Madill before attending Murray State College. Adams has one son, Trey, with deep-rooted friends and extended family that stretch throughout the county as it typically does in small towns. Adams worked land, mowed and baled hay for District 2 alongside with his father and fellow landowners. As a kid Adams, recalled riding on loaders and graters with his father’s good friend Grady Adams while his dad mowed the right of ways on roads for the county.

Adams said he wants to maintain local resources to help budget control.

“We buy a lot of aggregates out of our county,” said Adams. “We’ve got limestone right here; we could look into a portable crusher.”

Adams viewpoint is that fuelcostsandaggregatestake dollars away from Marshall County. Repairing existing roads properly will also help inmaintainingbudgetcontrol explained Adams.

“Drainage, that’s the main thing with the roads because everything has to go to the bar ditch” said Adams about District 2’s roadways.

Without proper drainage, roadways will deteriorate furtherneedingmoremaintenance. Adams went on to explain, “First big rain washes away all the aggregates to the first creek. We must fix the drains first.”

There are several roads that Adams said he is concerned about in District 2. “Porter Road needs some attention, Buckholt Road needssomeattention,Adams Road needs some attention.” he went on, “Jagger Road is pitiful and has a lot of oil field truck drivers through there. If we can get the road to where it will drain and the water will come off of it, that road will hold up better to truck traffic.”

Adamssaidheisnotafraid of hard work. He said he has worked hard all his life and is ready to go to work on District 2’s roads where he lives and wherehisneighborsneedhim the most.

Adams is running against candidate Nick Hartin for Marshall County Commissioner District 2. The Special Primary Election will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023, and the Special General Election will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
