BCF: Cold snap coming

We’ve had some beautiful days this past week, but I hear cold temps are coming back through February. Not quite the time to get excited over planting our gardens just yet.

The Buncombe Babe’s Red Hat Group will meet this Friday, February 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Gringo’s Mexican Restaurant in Enos. This is a fun group of ladies, and you are welcome any time. Call Cheryl at 580-564-7102 if you would like to get out of the house and meet new folks.

The Burning of the Socks event is scheduled for March 13, 2021 at the Buncombe Creek Marina. There are many fun events planned for the day and they will have a table for silent auction items. The proceeds will help benefit the BC Fire Department as well as the local fireworks display that is held every year. More information to follow, so stay tuned.

The new stickers are out for Jurassic Park, which is located near the marina. It is a small tract of land with golf cart access for everyone to enjoy. There is a fabulous beach and picnic table as well as fishing. The purchase of the $25.00 sticker helps benefit the park by improving roads, installing picnic tables, etc.

A raffle for an Axe Throwing Board complete with axes will be available for purchase at the Burning of the Socks event in March. Members from the board will be there with information and can answer any questions you may have.

I hear the BC Ladies Auxiliary will have a handmade quilt available for raffle in the near future. It is a fundraiser to help the club with their efforts in helping local organizations in need – more on this soon.

Kingston Schools will be closed Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26. That is about all the news I have for now, other than the fishing on Lake Texoma is still very good! Have a safe week!
