Fall is in the air! The library had a great time at the Trick or Treat the Square. We gave out 800 bags of candy and lots of pencils, toys, bookmarks and how to get a library card. We look forward to seeing all the ghost and goblins when they come in for a card, hopefully without their mask. Hope to see you next year and we will have more candy.

We will be on the square again this Saturday, Nov. 9, for the Fill the Sleigh event. We will be reading books to everyone that wants to stop by and listen. Of course, there will be milk and cookies to enjoy while you listen. There will be lots to do and we look forward to seeing all the children, so come on out and have a great time.

We are having a Thanksgiving Coloring Contest. So, sharpen those crayons and colored pencils, dig out your markers and wobble on into the library for a free Thanksgiving coloring sheet. Contest began on Friday, Nov. 1, and all entrees must be turned in to the library by Friday, Nov. 22, by 6:00 p.m. Artists’ work will be judged and winners will be contacted by phone for a photo op with their prizes on Monday, Nov. 25.

Age groups are four to six, seven to nine, and ten to twelve years old. We will have two winners, a boy and a girl, chosen from each age group for a total of six winners. Prizes have been generously sponsored by CBO Technologies.

We look forward to seeing some awesome artwork from children in Marshall County. So, hurry into the library and pick up your color sheet, along with the rest of the rules.

We have a history book in the library that some of you might be interested in reading, of course it is reference so it will have to stay in the library and cannot be checked out. The “Simpson/Durwood Files” is a collection of well researched columns, articles, and stories written by Karen Crowson during her years as a Columnist and Reporter with these stories pertaining to the small communities in Texoma. There are stories of cougars, alligators, POW’s, legends of the little people, the Tiny Chapel, Rollins Cemetery, and stories of the people who lived in Simpson and Durwood, Oklahoma including interviews with Towana Spivey and others.
