In the October 17 issue of The Madill Record, it was reported that the Landmark bank in Madill, along with several other locations in Southern Oklahoma, were bought out by Simmons Bank.
Due to the merger, many employees will be laid off.
Being that Marshall County is in a rural area, finding employment might prove difficult for those being laid off.
The beautiful thing about small counties is typically when there is a traumatic event, the people band together to help in any way possible.
A Helping Hand
A Marshall County business is proving to be no different and doing everything possible to make the transition easier.
Woody Ford in Madill announced on October 20 that they have a heart and wants the community to know that “Woody Ford Cares.”
They posted on the company Facebook to reveal their plans. “Any employee at Landmark bank that bought a vehicle from us and is being laid off, let us know, we’ll make 2 months payments on your vehicle to help you during this difficult time.”
The only instructions for the affected customers are extremely simple – bring proof to the car lot that they are one of the employees that were laid off, and Woody Ford will pay two car notes. How simple is that?
Who’s Hiring?
The Madill Record has compiled a list of business hiring locally as of Oct. 22.
While some jobs are in a different county, they are still attainable.
The places hiring in Madill are Braum’s –along with the Durant location – Walmart, Hobo Joe’s, Oklahoma Steel and Wire, Boom-A-Rang Diner, Smiley’s, Ortiz Masonry, Madill Mart, Twin Peaks Water Works, Dollar General, Sonic, Country Kitchen, Dollar General, Cash Saver, Star 32, and J&F Mobile Homes.
The Kingston locations are Super C, Burger Shoppe, Country Kitchen, Dollar General, Simple Simon’s Pizza, Sonic, CM Truck Beds, Catfish Bay Marina, Family Care Center, CMA AllianceHealth, Catfish Bay and Family Dollar.
Other place are Megastar Casino in Willis, Chick-fil-A in Ardmore, Country Building Center in Marietta, Dollar General Warehouse in Ardmore, Cardinal Glass in Durant, Elara Caring in Ada, Alorica in Durant, and JAMM for Marshall County.
