Ceci Garcia Robles (65kg) Women’s U23 National Freestyle WrestlingChampionfor Spain is currently training with Coaches Peter Hammer and Roger Frizzell.
Garcia Robles traveled from her home country of Spain to work with some of the best in the US as she prepares for upcoming competitions. Her first stop was Macon, Ga., to work with Ruben Chavez. This followed by a stop to work with the renowned coaches at Iowa State and wrapping up her US tour with WarHammer Wrestling Club.
Garcia Robles and Coach Hammer first met at the Gran Prix of Spain last year, where Hammer took Bronze in the 57kg weight bracket. They have stayed in touch ever since, and this weekend became an all-out intense workout of strength and conditioning, running, technique training and drilling with local partners all under Hammer’s watchful eye.
Hammer has been most impressed with Garcia Robles’ humility, strength and gracious demeanor.
“Ceci has been an outstanding partnerandmentor for our club members and friends. And I’m deeply appreciative of the opportunity to get to drill with her myself, as my own Pan-American Championships are right around the corner,” Hammer said.
Garcia Robles said she learned so much during her trip.
“They know so much technique,” she said of her time with Coaches Hammer and Frizzell. “My first day was overwhelming with how much they taught me. By day 2, I was already using much of the technique. I’m so happy I made this trip to visit them and to work with the youth, too.”
