Atoka—The Madill Wildcats came out strong against the 3A Atoka Wampus Cats and took the win by a score of 59-46 to improve their season record to 17-5.

Madill had a much bigger lead before Coach Brett Weiberg substituted late in the game and Atoka cut into the big lead.

“Our defense was not as good as it normally is,” said Weiberg. “We made some good shots to get a big lead though.”

Miguel Duran scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats. Wyatt Gray scored 11, Ezekiel Fuentes scored nine and Asa Robertson and Ara Vann both tallied six points each.

“the team played hard,” said Weinberg. “A win on the road is always a good thing.”

The win marks the seventh consecutive win for the Wildcats with the District tournament action just around the corner.

District playoffs games are scheduled on February 21 with the girls’ game at 6:30 at Tecumseh. The boys’ game will follow also against Tecumseh. Regional games will be played on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Newcastle and the time will be dependent on results of the District games.
