Wildcats receive All-District honors

Multiple members of the Madill Wildcats football team were named to the 2019 Class 4A District 2 All-District Team on Dec. 11, said Brandon Jacks of Madill Public Schools.

One Wildcats, senior Asa Robertson, was also named Athlete of the Year for Class 4A District 2. On offense, Robertson lined up at both quarterback and wide receiver. Meanwhile, he played defensive back on the other side of the ball.

Two Wildcats were named to the first team: senior running back John Venable and senior linebacker EJ Holliday.

Meanwhile, the team had seven representatives on the second team.

This group included three offensive lineman: Chris Taylor, Braden Herndon and Riggin Melton. Two offensive skill players, wide receiver Cole Selvy and running back Mateo Fajardo, also joined the second team. Rounding out the Wildcats’ second team contingent were linebacker Hunter Elkins and defensive back Ryan Shahan.

Three Madill players received Honorable Mentions: defensive end Dillon Carter, wide receiver LoLo Ortega and running back Jerod Fields.

A pair of Wildcats also received Special Recognition as Injured Athletes. They were offensive lineman Coty Tweedy and defensive back Bret McDaniel.
