Marietta – In a game that was a low-scoring defensive battle, the Madill Wildcats persevered, 40-32, at Marietta Monday night. This hard-fought win brought their season record to 18-5 and was their eighth consecutive win heading into the District competition.

Madill held a 19-12 halftime lead winning both the first two quarters using strong defense and key rebounding.

Marietta was able to keep in the game by hitting some key three-pointers in the third quarter. For most of the fourth quarter the teams traded buckets until Marietta closed to within 35-30 with 2:45 left in the game. But a key foul and technical on a Marietta player gave the Wildcats the points they needed to close out the game as they outscored Marietta 7-2 in the final three minutes.

Ezekiel Fuentes led the Wildcats with 16 points.

He went 5 of 6 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter which helped seal the win. Miguel Duran and Asa Roberson both scored nine points.

The Madill team played some excellent defense throughout the game as evidenced by them holding Marietta to just two points in the final three minutes of the game.
