Claremore, Oklahoma — Alex Sarabia (15U - HWT) stomped his competition winning 1st place in the 2025 Zebra Classic at Claremore High School. The freshman wrestler from Madill represented the War-Hammer Wrestling Club out of Kingston.
Sarabia scored 45 points over two matches and only conceding 14. His two wins were TF 23-7 over Jacob Darnell of Battlefield Wrestling Club and TF 22-7 over Jonathan Sullivan of Claremore Wrestling Club.
According to Coach Peter Hammer, Sarabia is a joy to watch and coach.
“Alex is an absolute peak performer, a humble leader, and a happy savage on the mat,” Hammer said. “It’s such a blessing to coach him, watch him grow, and spread his joy and love for the sport. He gained a lot of fans in Claremore today. Many personally approached us to tell him that they’ve never seen a heavyweight his age move the way he does. Coach Roger Frizzell and I are over the moon for Alex.”
To his credit, Sarabia was grateful for all the positive feedback.
“I went into the tournament as a complete unknown,” Sarabiasaid.“Everyone was really kind letting me know after my wins that now I’m definitely more known. They also said they were looking forwardtowatchingmeat State and at Fargo next year. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to go into ‘wrestling country’andwin1stplace.My goal was to make my friend and brother, Jayden McCain, proud. I’m hoping I did. He is deeply missed.”
