Madill - The Madill wrestling team lost their final dual meet of the season in a tiebreaker to Sulphur, 37-36 Tuesday night at the Middle School gym.

This closed out their regular season with a 4-9 record in dual meets. The tiebreaker went to Sulphur because they had three pins to Madill’s two pins.

“We were 12-2 last year, but this is a down year,” said Coach Jim Love. “We were missing four wrestlers due to being ineligible. That hurts.”

Coach Love was a member of the 1979 UCO wrestling team that won the NAIA national championship and was elected to the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2011. He has been coaching for 37 years and has had many of his wrestlers win at the state level over the years.

Before the meet Coach Love thanked Sulphur for making the trip as this meet was originally cancelled due to the school closings in the previous week.
