Fresh off a bye week for each team to heal some bumps and bruises, both Madill and Kingston football squads return to action on the road this weekend.
The Wildcats travel to 2-1 Tecumseh in the 4A-2 district opener while Kingston visits Kiefer in a Class 2A Division 1 Top 10 showdown that should definitely impact the ultimate league title.
Madill will attempt to build off the momentum of its best offensive outing prior to thebyewhentheWildcatsput up 20 points against Dickson. Tecumseh will present an even bigger challenge to the youth-laden Wildcat defense with a Wing-T system that is averaging 32 points per outing and has tremendous size up front.
It’s a showdown of the Class 2A-1 District 3 juggernauts at Kiefer where the Redskins are hoping for a repeat of 2024 when they edged the Trojans, 29-28, in an overtime thriller.
Kiefer has played one of the toughest non-district schedules in Class 2A with a 36-8 loss to powerhouse Jones and 30-29 victory over previously Division 2 number one Vian.
It will also be a classic battle between two of the top quarterbacks in the class with Kingston’s Reid Patterson and Kiefer junior Cash Worley.
“We know how big a challenge this will be,” Kingston head coach Brad Hill stated. “It’s going to be another playoff-type atmosphere on the road, but we feel like the trip to Fairview prepared us well for that. It should be a great high school football game.”
