Madill’sboyscrosscountry team placed eighth with the girls taking 11th in the Class 4A division at the Pre-State Cross Country Meet last Saturday in Shawnee.
The top Madill finisher came in the girls division where senior Yadira Barbosa was a medalist with a time of 12 minutes, 35.99 seconds over the 3,200-meter course withafieldofseveralhundred runners.
Caylee Martinez contributed a 77th place mark of 14:39.83 with Katelyn Acquaviva placing 85th in 15:02.94 and Jeylah Cabrales posting a time of 15:34.38 for 97th.
Other Lady Wildcats outside the Top 100 individuals included Jayleen Vasquez, 103rd (15:41.92); Samantha Ortiz, 117th (16:18.05); Lexington Willis, 122nd (16:26.03); Hadon Stuckey, 129th (16:41.08); Isabell Stuckey, 137th (17:04.13); Aranza Salinas, 150th(18:07.28);andKlarivel Aldava, 153rd (18:15.28).
While the Madill boys didn’t have any individual medalists, they registered seven finishes in the Top 100 led by freshman Jayden Barbosa, who clocked in at 18 minutes,16.68secondsonthe 5,000-meter course.
Alex Orta posted a 42nd place time of 18:35.48, Jose Camposwas44thin18:44.56, Ryder Douglas added a mark of 18:55.62 for 52nd, Blane Hawthorne finished 67th at 19:24.01, Gale Gallegos took 87th in 20:04.25 and Yadel Sanchezwas89thwithatime of 20:09.59.
Other Wildcat finishers in the event included Canyon Phillips, 103rd (20:39.63); Saul Martinez, 110th (21:06.23); Aroddy Camacho, 115th (21:10.21); Vincent Acquaviva, 159th (22:50.54); Dayton Gimenez, 160th (22:50.88); Ronny Rivera, 180th (23:45.28); Enrique Martinez, 206th (25:59.98); Isaac Quiroz, 216th (28:25.45); and Xavier Quintanilla,224th(29:36.81).
