The Wildcats traveled to Edmond Santa Fe for the state cross country meet. Head Coach Cale Eidson said the season has had many ups and downs.

“We took five girls and four

boys,” said Eidson. “We experienced many setbacks this season, but we forged ahead regardless.”

The girls’ team placed ninth overall. Isabel Sanchez was eleventh place (12:34) and all state honorable mention. The four other girl runners were Valeria Calderon (12:58); Nathali Ibarra (14:29); Fernanda Hernandez (14:50); Maritsa Mendez (15:03); and Carol Moreno (15:27).

Sixth overall place was grabbed by the boys’ team. Miguel Duran was fifteenth place (17:24) and all state honorable mention. Other boy runners were Brodie Tull (18:30); Anthony Sanchez (18:31); and Gael Salinas (19:23).

Eidson said he has enjoyed watching his runners grow up.

“I’ve had this group of seniors since they were 7th graders and I’ve really enjoyed them,” Eidson said.

The Cross-Country teams will take a break before starting off season track. Eidson wanted to reiterate just how proud of his teams he was.

“I want to say how proud I am of all of our cross-country athletes this year for staying with it and making our sport great, all the way from our elementary runners to our seniors,” said Edison.
