Madill climbs cross country state rankings

With the Class 4A regional cross country meet slated for this Saturday at North Rock Creek High School in Shawnee, theMadillWildcatshave climbed to fifth in the statewide teamrankingswhilethe Lady Wildcats cracked the poll for the first time at 25th.

Madill head coach Cale Eidson is excited about his team’s chances of qualifying for the state meet with solid showings this week.

“Led by seniors James Valadez, Jose Campos and TristonBarnes,theboyshave spent most of the season in the state’s Top 10,” Eidson commented. “They have had a strong showing at a few outings this season and are looking forward to a good opportunity to go to state and hopefully spook some teams on Halloween weekend.

“The girls have been led all season by All Stater Yadira Barbosa, who has had another fine year. Our other girls, Katelyn Acquaviva, senior Kaia Henry, senior Yvette Ariciaga, Klarivel Aldaba and Hadon Stuckey have also been working for a chance to qualify for state this week. We’re expecting a good performance.”
