On April 6, 2021, the Madill Baseball hosted the Sulphur Bulldogs for a double header. Sulphur got the first game started by scoring first. The Wildcats went to bat with Steven Sisco singling on a ground ball to third base. Cash Coble doubled on a fly ball to centerfield allowing Sisco to score Case Coble hit a ground ball to pitcher but Cash Coble was out at third. Ty Rushing walked, and Caden McHatton singled on a ground ball to the shortstop. Houston Stephenson hit a ground ball to first base allowing Case Coble to score. Griffin Williams struck out.
The second inning started with the Wildcats leading by two runs. Sulphur scored another run and then the Wildcats defense held the Bulldogs to three consecutive outs. Brylee Bruster doubled on a fly ball to centerfield. Jackson Roberts singled on a bunt to the pitcher. Sisco singled on a ground ball allowing Bruster to score. Cash Coble struck out. Case Coble singled on a ground ball and Roberts scored. Rushing walked and McHatton singled on a fly ball to centerfield with Sisco scoring. Stephenson hit a ground ball to pitcher and Cash Coble scored. Williams struck out.
Their model defense held Sulphur to start the third inning by getting only two hits and three consecutive outs. Madill had some struggles on offense with Bruster striking out. Roberts walked and Sisco hit a ground ball an out to the shortstop. Then, Cash Coble hit a pop fly for an out to the shortstop.
The Bulldogs got a hit to start the fourth inning followed by an out then another hit and then Madill’s defense kicked in and got two consecutive outs. Case Coble singled on a ground ball to third base. Rushing singled on a line drive and Coble scored. McHatton hit a ground ball for an out to third base and Stephenson singled a pop fly to the pitcher. Williams hit a ground ball for an out to the shortstop stop. Brewster hit a fly ball and was out in right field. The
Wildcats’ defense held the Bulldogs to three consecutive outs to start the fifth inning. Roberts struck out for Madill. Sisco struck out and Cash Coble hit a pop fly for an out to the shortstop.
Sulphur had three consecutive strikeouts for the sixth inning. Case Coble hit a fly ball to the left field and was out. Rushing hit a pop fly for a fly ball to centerfield and was out. McHatton hit a ground ball and was out at third base. The Bulldogs tried to make a comeback to begin the seventh inning but Madill‘s defense was too much Holding Sulphur to three consecutive outs, Madill won 7 to 2.
Head Coach Frank Thompson said whatever winning formula they have found; they need to continue.
“We have played well and competed,” Thompson said. “The last two games we have found a way to win. The pitchers are throwing struck. We have gotten some hits at crucial times to score runs. We are competing well. Real proud of the young men.”
The second game against the Bulldogs started with Sisco hitting a fly ball and was out at leftfield. Cash Coble hit a ground ball to the shortstop. Case Coble hit a pop fly for a fly ball and was out at the shortstop. Rushing singled on a flyball to left field. McHatton hit a ground ball and was out at second base. The Bulldogs got a run but then Madill‘s defense held three consecutive outs.
The second inning started when Stephenson singled on a ground ball. Williams singled on a ground ball to second base and Stephenson scored. Bruster got a hit but was out at first base. Roberts singled on a ground ball to the shortstop and Sisco hit a ground ball a ball to second base. Roberts got out but Williams scored. Sisco stole to second base and Cash Coble singled on ground ball to right field allowing Sisco to score. Case Coble hit a ground ball out to the shortstops. The Bulldogs had two outs, one hit. and then a third out.
To start the third inning, Rushing singled on a ground ball to the shortstop. Then, McHatton hit a ground ball out to the shortstop. Stephenson hit a ground ball out to the pitcher but Rushing scored. Williams struck out.
Sulphur got two outs, a walk, a single hit, and two scores, and then a third out.
Bruster kicked off the fourth inning with the strike out. Then, Roberts struck out. Sisco hit a fly ball to the shortstop and was out. The Bulldogs got two runs in the fourth inning.
Cash Coble doubled on a fly ball to right field to begin the fifth inning. Case Coble hit a ground ball to the shortstop and was out. Rushing walked and Cash Coble scored. McHatton was hit by the pitcher and Stephenson was out from an infield fly to first base. McHatton out at first base. Then, the Wildcats held Sulphur to three outs.
The sixth inning started with Williams striking out. Bruster walked and Roberts sacrifices to the pitcher. Sisco doubled on a fly ball to left field. Cash Coble singled on a ground ball to second base and Sisco scored. Case Coble singled on a fly ball to second base and Rushing was intentionally walked. McHatton struck out. Sulphur was held by Madill‘s defense with one out, a hit, and two outs.
Stephenson started the seventh inning with a walk. Williams was out at first base. Bruster and Roberts both struck out. Then, Sulphur got three outs.
Sisco and Cash Coble both struck out to begin the eighth inning. Case Coble singled on ground ball to third base. Rushing was hit by the pitcher. McHatton hit a ground ball out to second base but Case Coble scored. Madill‘s defense held the Bulldogs to three outs. Madill won the game 8 to 7.
On April 9, the Wildcats traveled to Ardmore to play the Tigers. The first inning had Sisco hitting a ground out to second base. Cash Coble singled on a fly ball and Case Coble singled on a ground ball. Rushing was hit by the pitcher and McHatton struck out. Stephenson singled on a fly ball to right field with both Coble brothers scoring. Bruster struck out. The Tigers are replied to three hits, one run, and three outs.
To start the second inning, Williams hit a ground ball to second base. Roberts hit a pop fly for an out at the shortstop. Sisco hit a ground ball for an out to third base. Cash Coble singled a fly ball to centerfield and Williams scored. Case Coble hit a ground ball an out to the shortstop. The Wildcats held the Tigers to two outs, a hit, and a third out.
The third inning started with Rushing hitting a fly ball out at right field. McHatton hit a pop fly for an out at the shortstop and Stephenson struck out. Ardmore came back with a hit, a run, and then consecutive outs.
Bruster started the fourth inning with a walk. Williams singled on a bunt and Roberts was out at first base. Arturo Gomez struck out. Ardmore only got one hit in the fourth inning.
Cash Coble started the fifth inning by singling on a fly ball to right field. Case Coble hit a pop fly for an out in foul territory and was caught by the catcher. McHatton hit a flyball for an out to leftfield and Stephenson struck out. Ardmore only got one run.
Bruster struck out to begin the sixth inning. Williams hit a ground ball for an out to the shortstop. Roberts walked, Sisco hit a fly ball to the shortstop and Roberts was advanced to second base. Madill‘s defense held the Tigers to three consecutive outs.
Cash Coble started the seventh inning and was hit by the pitcher. Case Coble was out at first base and Rushing struck out. McHatton walked and Stephenson singled on a fly ball to centerfield but got out while advancing to second base. However, Cash Coble scored. The Tigers got one run.
River Shaw walked to begin the eighth inning. Williams was out at first base and Roberts singled to third base. Sisco singled on a fly ball to centerfield allowing Shaw to score. Cash and Case Coble both hit a fly ball and were out by centerfield. The Wildcats held Ardmore to three outs. Madill won the game 5 to 4.
The Wildcats will play the Kingston Redskins on April 15.
