Late surge lifts Lady Redskins past Latta

Kingston scored six times in its final two at bats to break a 9-all deadlock and claim a 15-9 victory over Latta in the fastpitch home opener on Monday.

The Lady Redskins utilized their bunt game and a pair of Latta errors to plate two runs in the bottom of the fifth stanza and break the deadlock. Destry Davis got the rally started with an infield hit.

Emma Bridgeman and Khloe Hall each singled in the sixth with M Hammond providing one of her three hits in the game on a two-run single that capped a four-run Kingston uprising.

Gracie Bridgman fired six frames, scattering five runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks to notch the pitching triumph.

Kingston looked like it might run away with the victory, building a 9-2 edge after just three innings before Latta stormed back with a seven run explosion in the fifth.

Hammond drove in three of the early runs and finished the contest with five runs batted in to go along with her team-high three hits which included a second-inning triple.DextryBowermanalso pitched in a pair of hits while Kate Ratzlaff, Ava Bain, Bridgeman, Davis, Keeton Hatley, Hall and Kenley Hallum all contributed one hit.

The Lady Redskins travel to Cushing this weekend to face a host of Class 5A and 6A opponents.
