Coach Shawn Runyan’s Madill Lady Wildcats beat the rain early last week, notching a win in three contests on Tuesday.
The Lady Wildcats outlasted Wilson, 12-10, for their fourth victory of the season before a 12-7 loss to Davis and 15-5 defeat at the hands of Tishomingo.
Madill is slated to take part in the Marietta Festival this week with their own festival event set for next week.
In the Wilson triumph, the Lady Wildcats got off to a fast start, which proved to be key as they pounded out a season-best 15 hits in six innings.
Madill plated four runs in the top half of the first inning, fueled by singles from Jade Soto, Laila Pickens and Joshlynn Clayburn along with a pair of Wilson errors. Soto and Pickens each drove in runs.
Wilson scored eight straight runs over the next inning and a half to appear to take command, but the Lady Wildcats refused to fold as they reeled off eight consecutive runs to answer and take control for good.
They picked up four hits in a two-run third inning led by a Pickens double. Three more tallies one frame later gave Madill the advantage for good after Dahlia Marris jump started the flurry with a double to leftfield.
The Lady Wildcats tacked up three pivotal insurance runs in the fifth stanza as Marrisdoubledhomeanother run in between RBI singles from Luciana Douglas and Brooklyn Washington.
Pickens and Clayburn notched three hits each as Marris, Washington, Soto and La Taylor all had two.
Madill got the bats going again in the Davis loss, posting 15 hits but couldn’t keep up with the Lady Wolves’ 17 hits as well as seeing five defensive errors prove costly.
Runyan’s club scored runs in all but one inning, riding the red-hot bat of Marris, who belted a pair of home runs as well a single and drove in four runs.
Soto also pitched in three hits with two apiece by Taylor, Chloe Miller and Ireland Groeber.
