Lady Wildcats end regular season with loss at Marietta

Marietta – The Madill Lady Wildcats lost their last regular season game at Marietta Monday night, 49-43. It was a hard-fought game

It was a hard-fought game with both teams making significant runs. This loss took the season record to 10-13 for the Lady Wildcats.

Marietta opened up a quick lead to start the game and had a 13-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. But Madill came back and outscored Marietta 9-8 in the second quarter which left Marietta leading 21-14 at the half.

Marietta came out after halftime with a very tenacious defense and opened up a 37-19 lead with just under two minutes left in the third period. But Madill came back again with a 9-0 run to close out the third period down 37-28. Jayden Weiberg scored five of the eight points in that run with a jumper and a long 3-pointer.

With 6:05 left in the game the Lady Wildcats cut the lead to 38-35, but Marietta went on a 6-0 run and held off the hardplaying Madill squad.

Kristen Chapa led the way for Madill with 17 points. Abby Lambertsen and Weiberg scored six points each. It was a very physical game

It was a very physical game with both teams in the double bonus in each half.
