Atoka—The Lady Wildcats lost a tough game to Atoka Friday night, 60-54, to bring their season record to 10-12. The second half long range shooting by the Atoka squad was the difference in the game as Atoka hit seven three pointers in the game.

“We just gave them too many chances,” said Madill Head Coach Shawn Runyan after the game. “We have a really young squad and it made a difference.”

Madill only trailed by one point, 21-20 at half time but fell behind 29-22 in the first two minutes of the second half. They kept attacking the Atoka lead, but was never able to tie the game.

Madill cut the lead to 48-47 with just under four minutes left in the game but was not able to take the lead.

“We have not played well at the beginning of the second half before,” said Runyon. I have tried different things, but it still happens sometimes. But, the team always plays hard,” said Runyon. “they never quit.”

Kristen Chapa led the Lady Wildcats with 24 points followed by Abby Lambertsen with 10 points.

Jayden Weiberg and Bailey Schneider both chipped in with six points each.

District playoffs games are scheduled on February 21 with the girls’ game at 6:30 at Tecumseh. The boys’ game will follow also against Tecumseh. Regional games will be played on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Newcastle and the time will be dependent on results of the District games.
