The first round of the New Year’s Classic was held Thursday, January 5 and the Kingston Redskins faced off against the Marlow Outlaws. CoachBobbyMcAdooandhis Redskins fought hard but unfortunately, overtake the Outlaws. The Outlaws won by eight points, 59 to 51.

Junior Reid Cason came out and established himself early underneath with four first quarter baskets. The Outlaws were making it very physical on Cason and somehow, he missed getting to the free throw line.

Eli Oliger had a great first quarter. He had a three pointer and two baskets underneath. He also hit his free-throw attempt. Hayden Seeney added a three pointer and the Redskins led, after one quarter, 19 to 11.

The Outlaws mounted a furious run and tied the game at 19 all at the 6:05 mark of the second quarter. By this point, Cason had his team on his back. He hit a three pointer. He had a bucket underneath and was 3 of 3 from the line.

Parks Ratzloff was the only other Redskins to score. He had a bucket. At the half, the Redskins held a slim lead, 29 to 27.

In the third quarter, Seeney and Brock Rumer each had three pointers. At the 3:45 mark, Cason took a host of Outlaws with him to the rack for a thunderous slam. He hit his free for the threepoint play.

This gave the Redskins a 37 to 35 lead. He added another bucket. After all this, the lead got away from the Redskins and they trailed by three, 43 to 40.

In the fourth, the whistle caught up with Cason. He hit his two free throw attempts before picking up his fifth foul. Oliger was also 2 of 2 fromtheline.RumerandSeeney each had three pointers. EventhoughKingstonfought hard, Marlow won 59 to 51.

Box Score: Cason finished with 23 points including a three pointer and was 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Seeney and Oliger each had nine points. Rumer had six, Ratzlof, and Hudson Everhardt had two points. The team was 9 of 11 from the line. Marlow was 20 of 28.

The Redskins took on the Silo Rebels in the second round of the New Years Classic. Just this season, the Rebels have been moved up to class 3A, same as the Redskins. Silo prevailed in this one.

Coach Bobby McAdoo and his team could not follow up todaywiththesameintensity they had in their previous game against Marlow. The final score was 65 to 36.

In the first quarter, Eli Oliger and Parks Ratzloff each had buckets. Oliger added a free throw. Reid Cason got to the line and hit two free throws. Redskins trailed 21 to 7 after one quarter.

The second quarter had a better showing as Cason found his way to two inside buckets, one was a dunk. He was unable to continue the hot free throw shooting from last night. He was 2 of 4. Ratzloff had a bucket and was 1 of 2 from the line. At the half, Rebels led 39 to 16.

In the third, Cason continued to have good luck around the rim. He had three field goals and was 3 of 4 from the line.HudsonEverhardtwas2 of 2 from the line. After three, Silo was still on top, 47 to 28.

Withthegameoutofreach and the bench players getting minutes in the fourth, Cason had one bucket, Everhardt had two buckets and Eli Dougherty had a bucket and two free throws. Cash walker was 1 of 2 from the line. The final score, 65 to 36, Silo.

Box score: Cason led the team with 17 points and was 5 of 8 from the line. Next was Everhardt with six, Ratzloff had five, and Oliger three.
