An 8-3 Madill win in the back end of a league doubleheader forged a split with visiting Ada in District 4A-4 softball action last week.
The Lady Wildcats will be back on the road this week, including participating in the Wright City Tournament beginning on Thursday.
After opening the week with a 17-1 defeat to Dickson and 14-4 loss to Ada in game one, Madill got it together in the nightcap to pick up its fourth win of the season.
Little went the Lady Wildcats’ way in the Dickson loss as they managed five singles offensively from Dahlia Marris, Ireland Groeber, Chloe Miller, Luci Douglass and Karma Williams.
Seven defensive miscues led to seven unearned runs for Ada in the twinbill opener. Marris produced a triple as Groeber also tossed in two hits and Laila Pickens and La Taylor each contributed a hit and one RBI each.
Madill took the lead early in the victory and never relinquished it throughout.
They plated a first inning run as Pickens singled, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a Taylor single to centerfield.
Two more tallies in the third added to the advantage as Marris sparked things with a run-scoring double. Taylor also came through one again with a two-out RBI single.
Ada cut the gap to 3-2 after four innings when Madill erupted for five runs in the fifth that put it on ice for the hosts.
Three walks and an error gottheLadyWildcatuprising rolling prior to a Washington RBI single. Miller then followed with the biggest hit of the game in blasting a three-run homer over the centerfield fence.
That was plenty of run support for Marris, who turned in a complete game pitching gem, yielding only one earned run, scattering six hits to go along with five strikeouts.
Taylor fueled the offensive charge with two hits and drove in a pair. Marris, Pickens, Jade Soto, Washington and Miller all tallied one hit for Madill.
