Following a rough start to the season with run-rule losses in district contests against Sulphur and Byng, the Madill softball team bounced back with better showings in the Pauls Valley Festival.
Gameonewasatough12-1 loss to Marlow but the second contest saw Madill with a strong comeback before it fell just short in a 7-6 loss to Pauls Valley.
Laila Pickens led the Lady Wildcat offense with a double against Marlow as Brooklyn Pruitt, Zeplin Thomas and LannaWigingtoncontributed singles.
Thomas had a big hand in the comeback versus Pauls Valley, posting a pair of hits that included a double and drove in three runs.
Pickens notched a double and RBI as Karma Williams, Tillie Chapa and Emersyn Thomas tossed in singles.
The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to be back on the road Monday at Plainview.
