Kingston’s Martin wins State Powerlifting title

Kingston junior Jaksyn Martinclaimedthe123-pound individual state championship in impressive fashion last week at the Small School State Powerlifting State Meet at El Reno.

Martin notched a three-lift total of exactly 1,000 pounds to blow past the nearest competitor who was 75 pounds behind. His 390-pound squat was the top lift in his weight class. He also tallied a 215 on bench and 395 in the deadlift.

The Redskins also had a placer in the 145 category as Vinny Robbins combined for 990 pounds (335 squat, 230 bench, 425 deadlift) to wind up seventh overall.

James Trout also chipped in an eighth-place showing in the 198 division as he wrapped up with a combination total of 1,185 pounds (450 squat, 285 bench, 450 deadlift).
