Kingston v. Sulphur

After an awful showing on offense in the Lone Grove game on January 15, the Redskins were ready to put that one behind them. Although not a high scoring game, the Redskins were able to do just that, winning 47 to 24. It does deserve to be noted, however, that Coach Taylor Weibner and his boys did not allow the opposing team to score many points, either. A good solid defense can lead to offense.

The first quarter saw only Brady Brister in the scoring column. He had a three pointer and two two-point field goals, making seven points total. Despite no one else scoring they only trailed by one point at the buzzer, 7 to 8.

The second quarter was better. Brister added two points to his total. He had help from his teammates. Tucker Rumer had a pretty three-pointer. The freshman Reid Cason entered the game and had four blocks and two buckets.

Marshall Ludrick added a bucket as well. The defense was still in place. They held the Dogs to six points and the score at the half had the Redskins in the lead, 19 to 14.

The third quarter saw the Redskins’ best offensive effort of the night. It came via the three ball. Brister added two more threes to his total and Dakota (Microwave) Weibner had two himself. He also was 1 of 2 from the line.

Jase Hays connected for one as well. Meanwhile, they were allowing only one field goal and two free throws from the Bulldogs. The score after three quarters was 35 to 18.

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs only managed six points total. Rumer and Tanner Carr had three pointers. Also adding field goals were, Brister, Ludrick, and Hays. Hays was 0 for 1 on free throws.

Weibner was able to get Hayden McKinney, Drew Capps and Price Shore minutes as well. The Redskins were able to coast in for a 47 to 24 win.

Box score: Brister lead the team with 17 points. Next up was Weibner with seven points, he was 1 of 2 from the line. Rumer had six on two threepointers, Ludrick and Hays had five each. Reid had four and Carr three.

As a team, the Redskins were 1 of 3 from the line, for the entire game. By comparison, the Bulldogs were 5 of 7. Not many fouls shot by anyone. Dogs managed only eight made field goals total. Both teams had nine total fouls each.

The Redskins are scheduled to return to the KMAC on January 19, 2021 night to take on Broken Bow. They are 9 and 3 and ranked # 12 in class 4A. They are a familiar foe for the Redskins. They beat the Redskins 53 to 38 in the second round of the New Years Classic on January 8, 2021. It should be a great game.
