Kingston softball splits with Marietta, Lone Grove

Kingston blasted Marietta and fell to Lone Grove in its lone two softball outings a week ago.

Coach Aaron Minor’s club will be on the road at the rugged Dale Festival at the Firelake Complex in Shawnee for their next action starting on Thursday.

The 12-0 triumph over Marietta was a dominant effort from the start for the Lady Redskins as they plated two runs in the first inning and nine in the second as they broke it wide open.

Singles by Kate Ratzlaff and Kenadea Elkins got Kingston off and running in the first frame flurry ahead of the second inning explosion.

BaileyReagansandwiched a single in the middle of three free passes to begin the barrage. Ratzlaff drove in one with a single and Elkins tripled with the bases loaded to plate all three runs. An Ava Bain RBI single continued the flurry as Amberly Hallum also chipped in another run-scoring hit.

Ayli Minor doubled in the final run in the third stanza to help end things early on the run rule.

Ratzlaff and Elkins each posted two hits while Bain, Minor, Reagan and Kenley Hallum all had one hit.

The offensive barrage was plenty of support for Khloe Hall, who got the pitching start and tossed three shutout innings, allowing one hit with five strikeouts.

It was a major reversal of fortunes against Lone Grove as the Lady Longhorns got things going often and early for a 12-1 win over the Lady Redskins.

Kingston’s lone run came in the third inning after Reagan and Ratzlaff singled and Elkins plated the tally on a sacrifice fly.
