The Dickson Lady Comets traveled to the KMAC on Friday, February 12, 2021 to take on the 14-4 Lady Redskins. Coach Rumer’s girls are ranked #8 in class 3A and are riding a seven-game win streak. The Lady Redskins took this one 67 to 43.

In the first quarter, Avri Weeks came out and quickly set the tone for the game. She was relentless in scoring inside the paint. She had nine points. Emi O’Steen and Raegan Davis both hit their three-point attempts and Kamry Bohannon had a bucket. The defensive ef fort was as effective as the offense. Bohannon had two blocks on much taller girls just by timing her jump perfectly. The result was a 17 to 5 first quarter lead.

The second quarter was better for the Lady Comets offensively. They came up with an 11-point effort. They did not fare as well on defense, however. Weeks had three, Kaya Wiebener had a three and hit two free throws. O’Steen had four, Bohannon was 2 of 4 from the line. Ryan Herndon had two goals and Kiara Price had a bucket. That took them to the locker room leading 37 to 16.

Weeks again had a very productive quarter. The third quarter was a nine-point explosion. Four field goals and 1 of 2 from the line. Davis had another three-pointer. Price had a goal and Herndon was 1 of 2 from the free throw line. Ladies now hold the lead 52 to 30.

In the fourth quarter, Coach Rumer played the starters sparingly. Weeks again led the way with three buckets inside and was 2 of 2 from the line. Wiebener had another three-pointer and Chloe Cargal had one as well. Herndon was 1 of 2 from the line. Final score was 67 to 43.

Box score: Weeks with 29 points and was 5 of 8 from the line. Wiebener was next with eight points on two three-pointers and was perfect from the line 2 of 2. O’Steen had seven points on a three-pointer and two field goals. Herndon finished with six points on two field goals and was 2 of 4 from the line. Price had four points on two field goals. Cargal had a three-pointer. As a team, 11 of 19 from the line for 58%.
