The Kingston Redskins baseball team opened their 2020 season March 5 with a 9-8 loss at Rattan. The loss dropped the side to 0-1 to start the year.

The Resdskins started the game with five runs in the first inning and another one in the second inning. However, the 6-0 lead did not last long as the hosts scored four runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning.

The sides would trade a pair of runs in the fourth inning to make it Kingston 8, Rattan 6 at the end of that frame. But it would be the hosts who got the last word in as they scored two runs in the sixth inning and another run in the seventh inning to claim the one run win.

Jace Hayes started on the mound for Kingston. Hayes went two innings and in that time gave up one hit and no runs. Hayes struck out four and walked three batters.

Matthew Flesher took over on the mound for the Redskins in the third inning. During the course of four innings, Flesher would surrender eight runs on five hits and four walks.

On offense, four Kingston players tied for the team lead with two hits: Gage Gill, Bryant Watts, Hayes, and AJ McKinney. Watts, Hayes and McKinney all also had two RBIs apiece.
