Kingston beats Madill in last game in old stadium

The Lady Redskins beat Madill in a close game with Madill on February 15. It was a very close game until midway in the third quarter when Coach Chad Rumer saw his girls pull away. The Lady Redskins won by 69 to 50.

Senior Raegan Davis was determined that the “shoe” would stay with her team. She saved her best for the last time she would face the Lady Wildcats.

In the first quarter, Lanie French continued what she has made a habit of lately; getting off to a fast start. She had two three-pointers to lead the way.

Jaci Herndon had a bucket. Kamry Bohannon was 1 of 2 from the line. Emily Bellettini had two buckets but missed both her free throw attempts. Herndon missed a half-court shot at the buzzer by a hair. Close game after one, 14 to 13, in favor of the Lady Wildcats.

The second quarter was much better scoring wise. Davis began perhaps her best game in the quarter by scoring. After a steal and a bucket, she was fouled and hit her free-throw attempt. She was just getting started. She added a three-pointer and a two-point field goal to her total.

Olivia Quapaw came in and had two buckets. Herndon had another field goal and was 1 of 2 from the line. Jayda foster had a bucket as did Kaya Wiebener. She was 1 of 2 from the line. Ethel Stewart was 1 of 2 from the line, as was Bellettini. So far so good, the Ladies led by 4, 35 to 31.

The third quarter had Davis continuing what she had started in the first half; another three-pointer and a two-point bucket. French, Herndon and Bellettini all had field goals. Bellettini also was 2 of 2 from the line. The Lady Redskins had a little bit of breathing room going into the fourth, leading by nine, 48 to 39.

Fourth quarter saw Davis with another bucket off of a steal. She would go on to hit four of four from the line. Herndon got busy and had two buckets and was 1 of 2 from the line. French added insult to injury by hitting another dagger, a three-pointer.

Foster again had a bucket. Bellettini also capped her good game off with two buckets and was 1 of 2 from the line. All in all, a 21-point effort and the ladies cruise in to a 19-point win. The final, 69 to 50.

Box Score: Davis was the leader with 17 points. She was 4 of 6 from the line. She had two three-pointers. Several steals and rebounds. Next was Bellettini with 14, and Herndon who had 12. She was closely followed by French who ended the night with 11, including three field goals from long range. Foster and Quapaw each with four, Wiebener with three, Stewart and Bohannon with one each.

On February 15, 2022, the Redskins hosted their last game of the season with the Wildcats. It was held on the home court of the Redskin rival. After the loss to the Wildcats at the Atoka Tournament, Coach Taylor Wiebener switched gears, and it worked. The Redskins win the shoe with the score of 44 to 40.

In the first, both teams looked very tight. After the announcer stated this would be the last game played in the Wildcat facility,it seemed to put more pressure on both teams. Braden Matchen had a bucket and Brady Brister was 1 of 2 from the line. Madill led after one, 4 to 3.

In the second, Brister and Reed Cason got it going. Each had two buckets off of assists from the other. At the 3:45 mark, the game was tied, at 7 all. They held on to take a one point lead to the locker room, 11 to 10.

In the third quarter, the pace picked up. Brister scored underneath on a nifty reverse layup. Then, he was fouled and hit the free throw. After Brister scored three consecutive trips down the court, the

Wildcats called a timeout. Brister would continue for a 12-point quarter. Cason added two free throws. Still, the Redskins led 25 to 16. The fourth quarter did not disappoint. Fuentes scored his first bucket of the game

The fourth quarter did not disappoint. Fuentes scored his first bucket of the game at the 7:00 mark. This was just following a Wildcat technical foul. Dakota Wiebener hit both free throws.

Brister was having none of a comeback. He had three more field goals and was 5 of 5 from the line. Matchen had another well-timed basket. Cason had another field goal but missed his free throw attempts.

Wiebener added two more free throws. The Wildcats could not get over the hump. The Redskins won the last game played in the Madill Fieldhouse, 44 to 40.

Box score: Brister with a fine effort lead the team with 27 points. He did most of his work inside tonight. Cason was next with eight points. Matchen and Wiebener each had four points. From the line, the team, 14 of 20 for 70 %.

The Redskins improve to a 16 and 6 record on the year. They are still in the 3A top twenty, holding on at #18.
