On February 21 and 22, the Madill Wrestling team traveled to Tuttle to attend the Class 4A Regionals. Two wrestlers held on to place four and are headed to State. Madill Senior Coty Tweedy, who wrestles in the 195-weight class, placed 6th place and scored 9.0 team points on the first day of the tournament. The first round was a bye for Tweedy. He won the quarterfinal by a fall but lost by a fall in the semifinal round.

Day two, Tweedy placed 4th and scored 16.0 team points. The first round was a bye, same as Friday. Tweedy took the quarterfinal, but not the semifinal. He took 4th place by a fall in the double elimination tournament.

Senior John Venable wrestles in the 182-weight class. The first day of the tournament, Venable’s place was unknown, and he scored no points. The first round was a bye, he lost the quarterfinal, but took the consolation round.

The second day of the tournament went better for Venable. He placed 14th and scored 12.0 team points. First round was a bye, and he lost the quarterfinal. However, he won the second double elimination round by a fall and the semifinal round by a decision.

Three female wrestlers will get a chance to compete at the state level, as well. Jaeda Townsend, Abby Tiernan and Braylee Thompson will get a chance to show off their chops when all five wrestling team members go to State on February 28 and 29 in Oklahoma City.
