Emery Melton, is a dedicated senior at Madill High School. She has been a part of the Madill community since Pre-K, growing and thriving in an environment that has shaped her into the young woman she is today.
Melton is the daughter of Exa and Pepper Melton, and she has two siblings: her sister, Kyann, and her brother, Riggin. She saidthat family plays a vital role in her life, providingtheencouragement and support she needs to pursue her passions.
She expressed her deep gratitude towards her parents for their unwavering support, especially for those early morning drop-offs and pick-ups that have made her journey possible.
Melton’s grandparents also hold a special place in her heart. She said she cherishes thelessonsandlovetheyhave imparted, particularly Salty 'Don' Mellon, Dana Wyatt, Vicky Sublett and the late Phil Sublett. Their influence has been a guiding force in her life.
At Madill High School, Meltonhasembracedvarious extracurricular activities, particularly in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and archery. Her involvement in these programs has not only helped her develop valuable skills but also fostered lifelong friendships.
She said one of her most treasured memories comes from her first year competing at the state level in archery. It was a moment of pride and accomplishment, showcasing her dedication to the sport. Melton credited Coach McHatton for pushing her to excel during practices and calming her nerves during competitions.
Looking ahead, Melton said she plans to continue working and making money. Inspired by her father, who has taught her the value of hard work, she said she aims to follow in her family's footsteps and make a mark of her own.
She expressed heartfelt thanks to her parents for supporting her journey, especially during competitions, and acknowledges the importance of their guidance in her life.
