Astheschoolyeartickstowardthehalfway point, it is time to shine the spotlight on a remarkable senior, Codie Shaw. A dedicated athlete and aspiring professional, Shaw has made an indelible mark on the school community over the past nine years.
Shaw is the child of Heidi and Scott Shaw and has two siblings, Maria Bagley and River Shaw.Hergrandparents,JerryShaw,Myrna Shaw, Marguerite Williams, and Bill Jones, have been a source of inspiration and support throughout their journey.
From an early age, Shaw has been immersed in sports, participating in track, powerlifting, wrestling and football training. With aspirations of becoming a football trainer in college and ultimately a physical therapist, Shaw has set their sights high and is determined to combine passion with purpose.
Reflecting on the high school experience, Shaw said homecoming was one of her favorite moments.
“My favorite memory from school was getting outofschoolearlytoworkonhomecoming floats,” she said.
Shaw said they also hold fond memories from their time on the football field.
“When I was a freshman cheerleader, I would run down the field every time we scored a touchdown, and one time I made the highlight reel at the football banquet,” Codie recalled with a smile.
Gratitude played a significant role in Shaw’s perspective.
“I would like to thank the coaches for appreciating us trainers, but most importantly, I want to thank the players for always brightening my day and making me laugh,” Shaw said. “They have no idea how much I love each and every one of them, and I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.”
Shaw said their parents have also been instrumental in her journey.
“Thank you to my parents for always supporting me in whatever I wanted to try, and making me put in the work to succeed,” she expressed, highlighting her unwavering encouragement.
Inspiration comes from various sources for Shaw, with a profound influence from faith.
“In life, my number one inspiration is Jesus. I hope to show others his goodness and grace the way it has been shown to me.”
Additionally, Shaw looks up to her older brother, River, whose athleticism has always motivated Codie to strive for success in sports.
As Shaw prepared to embark on the next chapter of her life, she had a heartfelt message for younger classmates.
“Worry less about what others think and just be kind. You will never see the good side of someone if you don’t show them yours.”
