B’n'M Fishing, Suzuki Marine, and others sponsoring the tournament. The Fetch-NFish dog show hosted by Jason Reynolds, brought countless fun for the kids, with his mobile aquarium. There were many Sea-Ark boats scattering the X-PO, and some Texoma Utility Equipment as well. Food Trucks such as Campfire Pizza and Murray’s Authentic Sauce were crowd favorites for delicious food during the event, but the fishermen were what to see.
Shay McDonald, team captain of the Here Kitty Kitty team said fishing tournaments can be anybody’s game.
“Fishing on Texoma in January is definitely difficult but makes it interesting because you just never know,” said McDonald. “We might be in first as of day one, but it’s a two day tournament and there has been a fish over 120 lbs caught here before, so it’s still to win.”
Mick Petree, team captain of winning Team Mega Cat said his team started out slow, but things turned around quickly.
“Smoky Brown and I fished the CatMasters on Texoma this weekend, after a bit of a slow start on day one, we got things rolling and weighed in just over 60 pounds with our three fish,” Petree said. “Sitting in tenth place to start day two, we kept to our game plan on the pattern we had found the day before, and we’re off to a great start. We had two 40+ pounders for our two overs and a nice 10 pound under by 8:30 a.m. We continued to catch and release several 20-30 pound fish all day, making it a very fun trip. The good lord blessed us with an amazing day, and an first finish.”
With sign ups for the CatMasters Tawakoni Fishing Tournament already open for February 26 and 27, 2021, it is undeniable that CatMasters is the Tournament of the year.
