Sue Josephine Willis

Sue Josephine (Freeny) Willis, 92 from Kingston, passed away at her home on May 19. She was born on August 13, 1930 near Caddo, Okla. to John W. and Sophia M. (Maytubby) Freeny.

Sue had a very rich life beginning with her folks and four older brothers and continuing with the love of her life, John Gibson Willis. Sue and John met while attending Oklahoma A & M (OSU) and married on June 4, 1949. They had 47 wonderful years together. Two children made the family complete. John’s employment with Hughes Tool Corporation afforded unique living experiences: Kansas, Louisiana, Texas, Singapore as well as Oklahoma. In addition, many other travel opportunities arose: Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan just to name a few.

Sue was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and participated in many events. Upon the loss of her beloved husband in 1996, she proved to be a shrewd business woman and handled her affairs well.

Sue very much enjoyed fun times with family and friends and loved playing bridge, golfing, painting and fishing. She kept an immaculate house, pristine yard and gorgeous flower beds until her health failed her just this year. She was an extremely kind-hearted, generous lady and gracious hostess to visitors. Her light will truly be missed.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; brothers, John Ellis Freeny, Arlington Hunter Freeny; and twins, Benjamin Clay and Bennett Freeny.

Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Nita G. Willis; son, Stephen L. Willis; several nephews and nieces; a host of cousins, other family and many friends.

A memorial celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., at the Kingston Methodist Church in Kingston, Okla. where Sue previously attended.

Because of Sue’s generous heart, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a reputable charity benefiting veterans.
