Pruitt

Polly Ann Pruitt, 91, went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 15,2024. The beloved wife, mother, grandmother, nana, and great nana was born in Lebanon, Okla. on January 20, 1933, to Stanley Everett and Jessie Lea Cole Rutherford. She was her daddy’s girl.

Polly was always in charge of the kitchen when her momma and daddy were working in the fields. It’s no wonder she was such an incredible cook. Polly went to school in Lebanon and Madill. She later got her GED.

Polly was a wonderful mother. She raised four children of her own, Billy Keith, Pam, Lea Ann, and Lisa, and was a second mom to many others .Polly was a hard worker outside the home, as well. She worked at Manufacturing Sewing Companies in both Madill, Okla. and Whitesboro, Texas. She influenced the lives of many children at Fran Drummond Daycare in Madill. Polly also worked at Dunstons Steakhouse in Lebanon and Sutherland’s Oil Well Service in Madill.

She married the love of her life, Frank D Pruitt on May 28,1976, in Gainesville, Texas. Theyworked hard together, traveled together, and enjoyed life together. They lived in Madill (Pruittville) and made many memories that Polly recalled often and loved to talk about. Frank and Polly were members of the Little City Baptist Church.

When Frank passed away, Polly moved to Whitesboro, Texas where she built a house down the road from her sister, Carol Sue. Polly’s home in Whitesboro was the gathering place for many family Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Her children, grandchildren, and some of the great-grandchildren loved spending holidays at her home, where Polly, in true Polly fashion, spent most of her time in the kitchen cooking amazing food until it was time to play board games. She was very competitive-she was all about winning. It didn’t matter if you were a kid, a grandkid, or a great-grandkid.

Over the years, Polly was many things to many people: daughter, sister, wife, mother, second-mom, grandmother, nana, great-nana, Bible class teacher, hard worker, and friend. In the words of Carol Sue, “She was a jewel.”

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Jessie Rutherford; brothers, Marvin Dewayne Rutherford, Bob Rutherford, and Harrol Rutherford; daughter, Lea Ann Champion and stepson, Michael Pruitt.

Polly is survived by her children, Pam Rushing of Pauls Valley, Okla., Billy Keith Rushing and wife, Mely of Maypearl, Texas and Lisa Rushing of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters Carol Sue Bennett of Flower Mound, Texas, Betty Lou and husband Carl Chaney of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Chris Reed and wife Delia of Sulphur, Okla., Chad Gilbert and wife Misty of Marlow, Okla., Brad Rushing and wife Mariah of Sachse, Texas, Emely Rushing of Englewood, Tenn., Lyndel Runyan and wife Meredith of Sulphur, Okla., Morgan Edwards and husband Brandon of Burnet, Texas, Madison Bauserman and husband Luke of Boise, Idaho; 15 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
