Myra Jean Mitchell, a long time Madill, Okla. resident, passed from this life on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in Denton, Texas. Myra was the daughter of Arch F. Hatfield and Bonnie “Bon” Coady Hatfield, born July 9, 1928 in Cedar Hill, Marshall County, Okla. She was 92 years, 2 months, 18 days of age at the time of her death.

Myra’s heritage and blood line traces back to the infamous Hatfield-McCoy feud, her grandfather was a relative of the feuding Hatfield clan engaged in the long running family conflict. Myra had one brother, Richard Hatfield.

Myra worked as a seamstress, grocery clerk and checker, salesperson, personal care giver, gardener, managed a pizza/video store, raised cattle, and developed part of her land in Madill into a small housing development. Myra was first married to Fred Ray Earley. They had

Myra was first married to Fred Ray Earley. They had two daughters, Sharon Kay Earley and Brenda Jean Earley. She later married Jessie B. Moore and they had one daughter, Jessie Carolyn Moore. Several years after the death of Jessie, Myra married Overton Wilson, and following his death, she married Samuel R. Mitchell. All her husbands and one daughter, Brenda Jean Earley Shelton preceded Myra in death as did her brother, Richard Hatfield, and one great-granddaughter Hollynn Shelton.

Myra is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Moore Cashion and husband Greg of Aubrey, Texas, and Sharon Earley Purcell and husband Cloyce of Pilot Point, Texas. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, thirty-four greatgrandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews, and numerous cousins.

Myra had battled dementia and Alzheimer’s for eleven long and challenging years. Myra’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mayberry Gardens for the patience, care, support, and love given during this extended journey and the Corona Virus lockdown.

Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday September 30, 2020 at Slay Memorial Chapel in Aubrey, Texas and the funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Madill, Okla. at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com.
