James Orville Wood was born on June 25, 1935 to his parents John and Allie (Hooper) Wood in Shelby County, Texas and passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at home in Thomas surrounded by his family.

James had eight brothers and sisters. When James was a child, he helped in the fields picking cotton and cutting timber in the woods.

James served in the United States Air Forces. He was a fireman while in the service.

James is survived by his sister, Janice Malony and husband, Peter of Broken Arrow, Okla., his children, Ruth Speck and husband, Robert of Kingston, Okla., and their children, Melody and Alan Snay of Thomas, Okla., Megan and Sonny Washington of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Merideth Gifford and Chris Hays of Thomas, Okla., his daughter, Donna Louise Moore and husband, Michael of Thomas, Okla., and their children, Savanah Wood and Travis Bitting of Chelsea, Okla., Staci and Levi McCrary of Sapulpa, Okla., Randall and Jamie Porter of Thomas, Okla., Shayna and Joey North of Foyil , Okla., and Chacotaw Moore and Christel Burgoon of Thomas, Okla.

He was also survived by his son, Bryant Keith Wood and wife, Karen Lorayne Wood, their children, John Jarod Farris of Louisiana, Nathan Wood and Jayne Hyatt of Claremore, Okla., Marissa Wood and Austin Allman of Chelsea, Okla.

James has 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; one granddaughter, Mariah Ellen Wood; both wives, Patsy Greigg and Mary Ellen Wood of 54 years.
