Gordon Ray Dowlen, 78, of Madill, Okla. passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at AllianceHealth Hospital in Madill. He was born on November 3, 1941 in Walters, Okla. to the late J.W. “Tab” Dowlen and Helen Hopper Dowlen.

Gordon was raised in Temple, Okla. where he graduated high school in 1960 and later attended OSU. While in school, he served as a Page at the State Capital and was a High School All American football player. Gordon owned and operated a Cotton Gin, worked as a farmer and rancher, a fishing guide and served on the Temple School Board. In 1985, he moved to Madill and worked at Valero in Ardmore where he retired from.

He married Carol Hawkins on September 4, 1986 in Madill. Gordon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madill and he enjoyed fishing, dove hunting and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife Carol Dowlen of Madill, Okla., his children; Tracy Ybarra of Texas, Missy Dowlen of Guthrie, Okla., Hailey Wright and husband Travis of Madill, Okla., five grandchildren; Tab Wright, Hadley Wright, Taber Bagley, Traven Bagley and Symon Ibarra, and his brother Brent Goodwin and wife Stacia, of Madill, Okla.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: J. W. Dowlen

Casket Bearers will be Taber Bagley, Traven Bagley, Costa Chambers, Easton Goodwin, Tanner Edmonds, and Riley McDaniel. The honorary bearers are Mike Bagley, Mike Kesler, Paul Jeffrey, Gerald Collier, MB Watts, and Brad Watts.

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a family hour 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.

Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Okla. Music arranged by Tanner Edmonds. Service was officiated by Randy Kendrix. Interment was at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Okla.
