Glen Evelyn Reed Wheeler, 101, formerly of Caney Creek, passed away on April 2, 2021 in Durant, Okla.
She was born to Robert and Lorene Reed in Talihina, Okla. on February 15, 1920. She graduated Talihina High School and Southeastern State University.
She married the late Eugene Wheeler in 1940 and they lived in numerous locations in Oklahoma before retiring in Caney Creek.
She is survived by two children; Gene and his wife Donna of Warner Robins, Ga. and Michael and his wife Ivy of Madill, Okla., three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011 and by three sisters and a brother.
She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for over 20 years and loved teaching young children. She was also a master gardener, a terrific and talented fisherman, and an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan. She could recite their standings, players, and many other statistics about the team. Her cheerful and friendly nature will be long remembered by friends and family.
Burial and graveside services are being arranged by McCarn Funeral Home (918-942-5004) in Talihina, Okla. Services and internment will be at the Talihina cemetery in her beloved Kiamichi Mountains. Date to be announced.
