Edna Mae “Red” Nelson Byars passed away July 2, 2019. Edna was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Woodville, Okla., to Tom and Lesline Nelson. A lifetime resident of Marshall County, Edna was full of life and she lived it her own way. Well known for her fearless spirit, big heart and colorful personality, she was notorious for being a straight shooter, not holding back her opinion and telling it like it is.

A master at spades and dominoes, she enjoyed teaching others her “game secrets”. She liked listening to The Blues, working crossword puzzles, watching Maury Povich and reading romance novels. But above all other things, Edna treasured her family and friends and was fiercely protective of those she loved.

Edna leaves behind sons: Charles Byars (Mary) Houston, Texas; Clifton Byars (Frances) Madill, Okla.; Christopher Byars (Kecia) Studio City, Calif.; daughter: Marva Enriquez Sanger, Texas; sisters: Eather Hervey, Madill, Okla.; Ruth McKinney, Madill, Okla.; Carmen Kemp, Tishomingo, Okla.; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Her courage, generosity, and resilience will be missed by many.
