Dava Mae Moore

Dava Mae (Hess) Moore was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left his world suddenly on January 25, 2021 at the age 63.

She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Willard Pirshing Hughes and Opal Lee Holman on June 13, 1957, and resided in Oklahoma her entire life. She was the “baby” sister of Willard Dave “Tommy” Hughes and Harold Gene Hughes. Both men gave her sisters Gail Morton and Mona Hughes, which in turn made her an aunt to Brandy, Tonya, Misty, Hope, Angie, Destiny, Jackie, Rocky and Cody, who would continue to bless her with the title of great great aunt.

On April 2, 1982, Dava married the love of her life, Larry Richard Moore, at the Lake Murray Chapel in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Two families were joined together that night, as each of them had a child of their own. Star Moore, daughter of Larry Moore, and Chad Moore, son of Dava, joined them in their nuptials and soon gained a “baby” sister, Azure. Mom was a title that Dava was proud of, and really enjoyed doing. If you knew her at all, you knew that you don’t mess with her kids and God help you if you dare try to cross a grandchild! Ethan and Garrett Moore were the lights of her life, she loved being a Mamaw as much as she loved being a mom, maybe even a little more.

Family meant a lot to Dava, and she taught her children that family isn’t necessarily always “blood” related. If she loved you, she loved you forever, no matter how much time or space comes between you, when you see her, she will still be the same friend she was when you left, to her that was family. So, it would not be fair to continue listing Dava’s family without mentioning her lifelong friends Bert, Theresa, Kenny, Diana, Chawn and Cheryl. She would be the first to tell you they were her family and their support throughout her life meant a great deal to her.

Her voice and her laugh were undeniably hers! She really enjoyed “visiting” with her family and friends as well as others, she didn’t know the meaning of the word stranger. Rather it be on the beach or in the stands supporting her kids, anytime you talked to her, you laughed. Her laugh was infectious, and it is really going to be missed.
