The March 1st deadline for mobile home owners to move from Marina Del Rey has come and gone. Since the closure of the sewage lagoon in August was implemented after not meeting Environmental Quality Standards,. some residents have yet to find a moving company or a place to relocate. Some residents have already spent more than $100,000 in the process.
Many residents wondered if the Marina del Rey resort will also be affected by the closure. Some took to Facebook to voice their concerns, asking how the resort was going to open if the lagoon closed. Some residents noted that the marina resort is on a separatesewagesystemthan the trailer park.
A representative for Marina del Rey management released a statement, attempting to allay the fears of the residents.
“We are committed to ensuring that Lake Texoma thrives as a community and provides a wonderful place for families and friends to gather. We are working constructively with the Oklahoma DEQ to resolve the issues with the wastewater lagoons and appreciate the patienceofourcustomers.We apologize for the frustrations the uncertainty has caused. Once we have an approved plan of action, we look forward to communicating that plan with our customers to find a path forward.”
