Madill Rose Garden Club plans event

The Madill Rose Garden Club met for a planning meeting for the Spring South Central District Garden Club meeting. They met on January 11 at the First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Eight members were present for the meeting. March 1 wassuggestedasthedeadline for reservations. The theme for the day will be “Spring for the Green Garden.” District Club Day will be March 9.

Susan Patton presented goody bags which will be given to each attendee. She showed brown paper bags with handles with the Madill RoseGardenClubemblemon the side. Mandy Arnold and Patton will make 50 bags for the meeting.

LaJeanne’s Plants and Things in Kingston will be contacted for small containers of plants which will be placed in the center of each table. Patton will contact LaJeanne’s and see if the pots can be made for $10-$13 a piece.

Becky Ninemire will be in charge of invitations, name tags, reservations and a printed program. Those attending will be encouraged to bring silent auctions items. Nancy Kerr, Judyu Parkey and Jayson Pruitt will be in charge of the silent auction.

Mary Jane Lowery will open the meeting with a Welcome to Madill presentation. A caterer will be contacted about a simple luncheon of Irish Stew, hoagies, dessert, coffee, tea and water. Members suggested charging $15 per plate.

JoWoodwillbeinchargeof a breakfast bar. Members of the Rose Garden Club will be asked to bring quick breads, muffins, coffee cake, fruit and doughnuts as possible dishes to bring. Coffee, tea, water and orange juice will be served.

Three speakers will present three different 10-minute presentations for the informative program. Those presenters will be Kerr, Parkey, Pruitt and Wood.

A short business meeting will be held. Parkey made a motion to purchase a library book for the Madill City County Library in memory of DeWayne Wellman with a second from Doris Farris. The motion carried.

Ninemire presented a short treasure’s report. Those in attendance were Farris, Linda Kaye Green, Kerr, Lowery, Ninemore, Parkey, Patton and Pruitt.
