BCF: A cooler Labor Day

We finally have been getting the much needed rain here in Buncombe Creek. It has been quite a scorcher to say the least. We really needed the rain. Fall is fast approaching and it will be nice to see cooler temps.

The Anchor 'N Restaurant is still cooking some fantastic vittles, so be sure to come on down and enjoy their full menu. Labor Day is just a few days away so be careful while you are out and about as more people tend to flock to the lake area's for boating and fishing.

It was nice to see the turnout at our own Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. as they hosted a Pump Ops training exercise on Saturday, Aug 20, with over 27 volunteers attending from Buncombe Creek and neighboring districts, such as Willis, Powell, Enos, and Lebanon. Thanks to all who volunteered their time on their day off and helped to make this a great day of training.

There has been a good turnoutallsummerattheJurassic Park beaches. People from all over and locals as well have been going down to enjoy the beautiful, yet hot summer days. This fall, they plan on adding more gravel and do some grooming around the area. In October, the local fire dept. are talking about a controlled burn in the area, if feasible. The local residents will be notified if the burn is elected.

IheardtheReconstruction Committee for the Texoma Southern Baptist Church has been authorized to move forward with the demolition. I know many have hoped this would have gone a bit smoother. Congrats on the demolition and rebuild. Not much for now. Be safe and have a good week.
