A local woman is behind bars again after allegedly hitting a child with a bat. On August 10, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a woman hitting a child with a baseball bat.
Officers arrived shortly to a residence in the southeastern part of Marshall County after receiving the call. The suspect, Nita Bradley, was entering the residence just as officers pulled into her driveway.
According to reports, Bradley acknowledged the officers, but began barricading her front door. Deputies attempted to speak with Bradley through the door by voice and by loudspeaker. Even though they tried reasoning with her, she refused to comply or even reply.
Officers then heard a young child screaming in distress inside the residence. This was when officers forced entry into Bradley’s residence for the safety of the child.
Bradley actively resisted and began fighting with the officers. Deputies were able to gain control of the situation and place Bradley under arrest.
EMS was called to the scene to treat the toddler’s injuries that were sustained from the bat. Officers began gathering statements and evidence and call the Department of Human Services to come take the child to the hospital for treatment.
Bradley, a 62-year-old female from Kingston was arrested for Child Abuse, Child Endangerment, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic Abuse/Assault and Battery, and Obstruction. This arrest is a mere four weeks after being arrested for an incident at Walmart on July 9.
