Shirley Ingram Arrington, lovingly known as “Memaw”, 86, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022 in Decatur, Texas. Shirley was born on March 31, 1936 to Van Frederick and Bessie L. (Hicks) Ingram on Corbin Cattle Ranch in Pontotoc County, Okla.
She was a retired teacher and librarian who worked in the Bridgeport Independent School District for many years. Shirley was united in marriage to Bill G. Arrington on January 1, 1956 in Madill, Okla. and were together 60 years until his passing in 2016. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Decatur. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt and more, who will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Mitch Arrington and wife Lee Ann, and Bruce Arrington and wife Darline, all of Bridgeport; her grandchildren, Lindsey Arrington, Alyssa Arrington, Emily Byrd and husband Jake, John Ryan Arrington, and Dr. Blake Arrington, and wife Whitney; her great-grandchild, Beau Byrd; her brother, Jim Ingram and wife Joan of Allen; her brother, Dr. Fred Ingram of Tulsa; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at the East Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Pastor David Lowrie will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s name to First Baptist Decatur or First Baptist Bridgeport to the fund of your choice.
