Merle Homer Cox Jr., 55, of Canadian, Okla.passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. He was born on October 29, 1966, in Madill, Okla. to Merle Homer Cox Sr. and Barbara Ethel Vick Cox.
Merle grew up in Madill, graduating from Madill High School in 1984 and later attended Southeastern State University where he graduated in 1995. He married Debora Marline Bradbury on September 25, 1992, in Madill.
Merle went to work for the Lake Texoma Lodge as Sales Director and was currently working as Deputy Director of Oklahoma Tourism for the State of Oklahoma.
He enjoyed life. Merle was a golfer, a hunter, a fisherman and he enjoyed traveling, cooking, and cooking outside on the grill. He loved his family and his dog Boomer.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie of Canadian, Okla.; children, Daniel and wife Natasha of Ft. Drum, New York, Taylor and husband Derrick of McAlester Okla.; grandchildren, Logan and Breanne of Ft. Drum, New York; parents, Merle and Barbara Cox of Madill, Okla.; sister, Karen Eddings and husband Steven of Russett, Okla.; nephews and niece, Mason and Raegin; special friend, Nadine Garrison (Big Momma) of Kingston, Okla.; and many other special loved ones.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2022, at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. Tracy Martin will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Okla. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
